The foundation

15 years with the Department of Defence

Before consulting, Fee spent 15 years serving with the Department of Defence — first in the Royal Australian Navy, then in the Australian Public Service in procurement, contracting, and logistics. It was a career built on rigour, accountability, and navigating complex systems under real pressure.

That experience gave Fee a deep understanding of governance frameworks, compliance obligations, and the administrative discipline that organisations need to function well. It's the foundation she brings to every client engagement — practical, structured, and grounded in how institutions actually work.

Where it started

It started with a connection. Through her work at Ngarrindjieri RUWE Empowered Communities, Fee found a deep and lasting relationship with the Ngarrindjieri community — one that shaped how she thinks about governance, self-determination, and what genuine support for community organisations actually looks like.

That connection never left her. Fee has continued to seek out work in that space — walking alongside community organisations, particularly Indigenous-led ones, to build the governance and administrative foundations that let them do their work on their own terms.

The equality work

Why equality and inclusion became the thread through everything

Over time, Fee found that the most effective governance, the most compelling grant applications, and the most resilient organisations all had something in common: they had done the work of examining their own structures through an equity lens. They had asked hard questions about who was included, who was heard, and whose needs were centred.

That insight shaped the name of her practice and the way she approaches every piece of work. Equality isn't a separate service — it's the lens through which all of Fee's consulting is delivered.

"Every organisation deserves the support it needs to do its best work — and every community deserves organisations that are genuinely accountable to them."

How Fee works — and who she works with

Fee works with a wide range of organisations across South Australia — from small community groups to peak bodies, from local government to national not-for-profits. She is particularly experienced in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and communities, and brings deep respect and genuine relationship to that work.

Her approach is always collaborative. Fee doesn't arrive with a pre-packaged solution — she listens, asks questions, and works alongside the people in the organisation to develop something that fits their specific context and needs.

What Fee believes

Equality isn't a destination — it's the way you do the work.

That's not a tagline. It's the design brief for every piece of work Fee takes on. The way an organisation governs itself, writes its grants, manages its administration, and supports its people — all of it either advances or undermines equity. Fee's role is to help organisations do it better.

How Fee works

Four principles that guide every engagement

These aren't aspirations — they're the constraints Fee works within on every project, with every client.

Equity at the centre

Every piece of work Fee takes on is grounded in a commitment to equity — not as a checkbox, but as a genuine lens through which organisations can examine their structures, practices, and culture.

Listening before advising

Fee’s approach is collaborative and listening-first. She takes time to understand the specific context of each organisation — its history, its people, its pressures — before offering any recommendations.

Practical, not theoretical

Fee translates complex concepts into practical action. Her work produces real outputs — documents, frameworks, plans — that organisations can use immediately, not reports that sit on a shelf.

Deep respect for community

Fee has worked extensively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations across South Australia. She brings deep respect, cultural awareness, and genuine relationship to this work.

Fee brought a calm, thoughtful presence to our governance review. She asked the right questions, listened carefully, and produced a framework our board could actually use. The process felt collaborative from start to finish.
Sarah M.CEO, community health organisation
Our grant application was transformed. Fee understood our programs deeply and articulated our impact in language that resonated with funders. We were successful in three of the four applications she supported.
James T.Program Manager, not-for-profit
Fee’s work with our team on equity and inclusion was genuinely transformative. She created a safe space for honest conversation and helped us develop a framework that reflects our values — not just a policy document.
Aunty R.Chairperson, Indigenous community organisation
Working with Fee on our strategic plan was one of the best investments we’ve made. She facilitated a process that brought our whole team together and produced a plan we’re genuinely excited to implement.
